The Wyoming Parks and Recreation Department received an Accessible by Design Award used to build a universally accessible splashpad. The splashpad is the only one of its kind in Wyoming, and its unique design features set it apart from others in West Michigan.

The Wyoming Parks and Recreation Department received an Accessible by Design Award used to build a universally accessible splashpad. The splashpad is the only one of its kind in Wyoming, and its unique design features set it apart from others in West Michigan. Those features include:
  • Textured concrete and color to mark the boundaries of the play area
  • Soaker stations, a water tunnel, fire hydrant, and dumping buckets in a variety of bright, vibrant colors
  • Special pathways and spacing between water components
  • Ground level, mid-level and overhead play
  • Benches and picnic tables offering viewing opportunities
  • Two water wheelchairs, which will be available for children and adults challenged by disability, and which may be reserved in advance
